Mikhail Samonov is the Founder of Two Centuries Investments, a Quantitative Asset Management firm in Princeton, New Jersey. Mikhail has been a quantitative portfolio manager for over 15 years with a demonstrated track record of innovation and performance. His prior roles included managing more than $5 billion in quantitative equities for PineBridge Investments, including $1 billion in a Socially Responsible strategy, and managing $1+billion in multi-asset and alternative factor strategies for Forefront Analytics. Mikhail is a published author and a frequent speaker on the topics of factor investing, asset allocation, quantitative innovation and responsible investing. His work has been quoted by leading media organizations, academics and book authors. Mikhail is a creative thinker and an educator frequently involved in helping investors and asset managers transform, innovate and grow. Mikhail is an honors graduate of Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Economics, and holds an MBA degree from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. Mike Fernandez is the Business Development Manager at Two Centuries Investments. He is responsible for client engagement, communication and on-boarding. In his prior role, Mike completed an internship, with BigSur Partners, as a portfolio and research analyst. Mike received his MBA from Miami Business School where he focused on Finance and Investments, receiving the following recognitions: Vitas Fellowship Scholar, DDA Finance Fellow, and Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honors. Mike was a Research Assistant under Dr. George Korniotis where he supported the research on Art as an alternative asset class. Mike completed FINRA’s Security Industry Essential (SIE) and has passed CFA Level 1.
John Toohey is an Advisor to Two Centuries Investments. John has 20 years of investment experience and 30 years of financial services industry experience. Over his career, he has appeared as a subject matter expert on television and radio, spoken at conferences, and presented investment insights to pension funds, insurance companies, and endowments. Most recently, he was the Head of Equities and Portfolio Manager at USAA Investments, where he grew the equity platform to $7.5 billion in assets under management in actively managed strategies. In addition, John served 10 years as an officer of the USAA Mutual Funds Trust. His prior roles included serving as an asset allocation portfolio manager at both USAA Investments and AIG Investments; as the chief investment officer for AIG's U.S. pension fund with over $3 billion in assets; and as the director of asset-liability management solutions for MetLife. John is a magna cum laude graduate of Williams College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics. John is a CFA Charterholder.
Malcolm Smith is an Advisor to Two Centuries Investments. Malcolm is an experienced executive with a demonstrated history of working in the investment management and consulting industry, with a range of professional skills in securities, asset management, management, marketing. Board-level experience in both corporate and non-profit environments. Particular experience in financing public, private partnerships at the city, state and federal government level. Malcolm is also currently an advisor to Lagoda Investment Managment. Malcolm has an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA degree from Brown University.
